"Teaching a child not to step on a caterpillar is as valuable to the child as it is to the caterpillar" - Bradley Millar
Nurseries, Reception & KS1
Areas of Learning
- Differences and similarities.
- Needs such as food, shelter, water and space.
- Kindness and compassion.
Teaching children kindness and compassion to all living things is a valuable life lesson.
Children are naturally drawn to animals. Research shows that children who are encouraged and supported in the love of animals will extend this love towards plants, nature and other human beings.
By giving opportunities for their interest and awareness of animals to grow, we can help children develop deeper empathy leading to more positive classroom relationships and social/emotional development.
By teaching differences and similarities we encourage compassion and kindness.
"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated"
- Gandi
Our sessions are designed to be interactive, allowing each child a chance to pet or hold the animals. To ensure a calm setting for both the animals and participants, we limit the number of children to a maximum of ten per session.
We are also happy to conduct shorter, half-hour sessions to accommodate large numbers.
